Bye to June

After work finally finished...my summer could begin, oh wait...vacation bible school has wrangled me in.  I was one of the co-leaders for Crocodile Dock this summer.  It was fun, it was exhausting, it was rewarding and the music still haunts me at night.  The boys had a great time and it was nice that Evan actually got to participate in stuff this year.

The week ended with a Girls Night Out for me.  It just so happened that Toni was gettin' married at the end of June.  We stayed the night at the Gaylord Texan and had a great time...talking, drinking, laughing, eating, drinking, dancing and drinking.  Okay - Toni was the only one that wasn't feelin' it the next morning.  But she did thank us for a fun time - so it's all good.

Week 4 of June was Camp Carter week.  Lucky Brennan got signed up for Day Camp during the absolutely hottest possible week in June.  Poor kid.  Here is his first Day Camp experience and he's melting outside from 9am-4pm.  He seemed to have fun once he learned the ropes.  Our week was full of driving to the west side of Ft. Worth 2x a day.  It was too hot for me to want to do anything else - so Evan and I stayed home or ran errands in the morning.

Thursday was family night and we got to go to the camp and see what they've been doing.  The activity that was planned was horseback riding - but not FOR the families - just for the kids at camp.  This explains the helmets in the picture.

Bryan and I also celebrated our 9 year anniversary on June 24th.  I can't believe I'm married to such an amazing guy.  We can still make each other laugh.  We are a team and he's the best father to his kids - so involved!  We've had some disheartening news about marriage this past year - it rocks your foundation for what you believe marriage and family to be all about.  I mean, with Jon and Kate divorcing how does anyone have a chance these days.. ;)- But hopefully this has made us stronger and gave us an understanding to not take each other or our marriage for granted.  Okay, now it's time for the funny story.  We had a date night on Friday - dinner at Cheesecake Factory (at the Parks Mall)...very delicious!  Some of those tables at that place are so close together you feel like you are actually eating with the people sitting next to you.  To our one side was a table of 4 black women - obviously out celebrating the one's birthday.  They were hysterical and fun to chat with....the other side of us had a couple that it was either their first date or they were not happy with each other.  This was a snippet of their conversation:

Man: "So, do you like steak?"

Woman: "Yes"

Man "Do you like lamb?"

Woman: "Yes"

Man: "Do you like veal?"

Woman: "Yes"

Oh, it was awful.

We then decide to head to the movies...you have to go outside the restaurant to enter the mall.  After the movie was over - the mall was closed down and you had to exit out certain doors - which happened to be nowhere near where we parked. Nice.  So we have to walk around the outside of the mall to get back to our car.  Now, the Parks Mall isn't exactly the shiniest, happiest place after 9:00pm on a Friday night.  We are walking ( in my ultra cute shoes, too) and a mall security vehicle stops us and asks if we want a ride - so we jump in and there we are celebrating our anniversary by taking a ride in the security car.  Again, nice.  But it was funny and made for some fun comments on our Facebook status updates.

This week we rode the Mini Train in Ft. Worth with some friends - how fun.  The weather was actually decent enough and we had a little picnic in Trinity Park afterwards.

And I can't get over how cute this little guy is....
