Evan was starting to get a little out of hand toward the end of the vacation break. His schedule was all screwed up, he wasn't getting a good nap, and bedtime got pushed back later and later. This made for one crabby kid. As this week progressed, things were better. We were back in a routine, dinner, bath, bedtime. He was going to bed closer to the 8:00 target.
So, last night Bryan told Brennan that there was no waking us up on Saturday morning. He had poured the bowl of cereal, 2 spoons, little portions of milk poured in containers in the fridge, glasses of juice, too. He knew that when he woke up he could have breakfast and take care of it himself. He then knows how to turn on the TV in the back room so he can take care of the need for entertainment. He also said not to wake Evan up when he got up - but to kindly help him with breakfast when he woke up and if we weren't up yet.
Sounds perfect, right?
Not so much.
At 4:00am, we hear a little hand trying to turn our door knob to our room. It's Evan, wanting in. He's wide awake. Upon further investigation, Brennan is not in his room either. Look around the corner and every light is on in the family room, kitchen and back room. Brennan is sitting at the kitchen table eating his breakfast. There is also a bowl fixed for Evan and Evan is saying "Brennan woke me up", "Brennan woke me up." We have no actual proof that Brennan woke him up because Brennan is denying every bit of that. Needless to say, the bowls of cereal were ripped from their mouths. Both of them sent back to bed. Stupid us, we didn't mention that YOU couldn't get out of bed until at least 6:00am. Duh!!! and UGH!!!
Well, Evan did not agree to the going back to bed part. He wanted our attention and boy that kid is persistant. I'm a little better at blocking it out than Bryan - so Bryan got out of bed more often to try and get him to cooperate. Evan screamed and shouted for the next 2 hours. Jesus, God, help me.
So, now that it is really morning, Evan has been raging all morning. He is shouting out orders and directives like he is an army sargeant. He is being incredibly loud and downright awful. He is terrorizing Brennan with whatever Brennan is playing with. The boys are not allowed ANY TV or Wii today (and that might make for an extra long day) Bryan and I are in poor moods since we didn't get the desired amount of sleep and our perfect plan didn't happen.
That is why this morning was Not Ideal.
